Private Joker: How can you shoot women and children?
Door Gunner: Easy....You just don't lead 'em so much!

From the AP via Yahoo News

Military investigators have evidence that points toward unprovoked murders by Marines in the Iraqi town of Haditha, a senior defense official said last week.

A U.S. military investigation will conclude that some officers gave false testimony to their superiors, The Washington Post reported on its Web site Wednesday night. The superiors then failed to scrutinize reports adequately, the Post reported.

Hey, guess what all you folks saying the Marines just "snapped".

This isn't snapping. This is knowledge of guilt and a cover up.

It gets better:
The top commander in Iraq, Army Gen. George W. Casey, is preparing to order all troops in Iraq to undergo "core values" training including humane treatment of civilians and an understanding of Iraqi culture, the Post and ABC News reported.

Let's break that down, shall we?

As humans grow up, ideally their parents instill in them "core values". You know, little things like Don't shoot innocent children and don't gun down innocent civilians because you're frustrated that your chosen career isn't going as it should.

You know, little things.

The goddamned sad part of it is that these Marines probably had "core values" until the DI's at Parris Island and San Diego got their filthy hands on them. Then again, they are members of an occupying force in an illegal war. Maybe those are their core values.

"Humane treatment of civilians and an understanding of Iraqi culture". Correct me If I'm wrong, but I believe many of these guys were on their third tour in Bush's bloody sandbox. Shouldn't they know how to treat civilians and have a bit of an understanding of Iraqi culture by now?

And does anyone think that if there hadn't happened to have been someone with a camera nearby, that none of this would have reached the light of day?

By the way, not content just to kill little children, our brave troops are now gunning down pregnant women.

It's a great time to be an American. The sense of power and moral clarity is overwhelming.

Robert, can we please have GS linked to Thorn tree. Easy access and all that. Besides, we don't, at least, I don't want to forget GS, or that GS is you.

Robert: Well, look at it this way. Regarding the shooting of the pregnant woman, the military establishment probably views it as case where the individual was "carrying a concealed deadly weapon" -- a future Iraqi! [END cyncicism.]

Robert, you read what I wrote yesterday and I still stand by my hunch they were high on illegal drugs. They didn't 'snap' -- meth, coke or even crank combined with adrenaline makes for killing machines.

Yes folks, the troops are on drugs. Heroin and hashish brought through porous borders by Afghanistanis and Iranians, not to mention the ones doled out by the military, such as Valium and Ambien, but also the spectrum of anti-depressants which aren't being monitored. I also read of a guy busted for selling coke to the troops. He got a slap on the wrist.

Nam all over again with a few new drugs.
