Nemo's World: The Source of our Dick-tatorship

Career NeoConNazi scumbag Dick Cheney has done a great many utterly despicable things in his current political guise (and, of course, for many years prior): selecting *himself* as the ideal VP for our hopelessly inept, idiot savant "president"; conducting secret US "energy policy" negotiations with his crooked cronies in the industry, while completely excluding environmental inputs from all deliberations; coordinating the "war games" that so neatly facilitated those "terrorist" attacks of 9/11 (which, "coincidentally", constituted *exactly* the type of Pearl-Harbor-like event the NeoConNazis had long dreamed of as a "justification" for pursuing their own ambitions of "US" global domination); personally allowing the nominal "Flight 77" to continue unmolested on its journey through Washington's air space and hit the Pentagon; "stumping" (and repeatedly lying) in support of the utterly fraudulent, illegal war on Iraq; actively advocating torture as a would-be "legitimate" tool of the "War on Terror", and much, much more.

Needless to say, "Puppet Master" Dick is *still* hard at work in his ceaseless efforts to undermine the Constitution of the United States and eliminate any semblance of our traditional form of government in the pursuit of his megalomaniacal, "unitary executive" goals.

Earlier this week, the following news item appeared:

Cheney's Office Declares Exemption From Secrecy Oversight
Wednesday 07 June 2006

Thickening the haze of secrecy surrounding the executive branch, the Office of Vice President Dick Cheney has declared itself exempt from a yearly requirement to report how it uses its power to classify secret information.

In its 2005 report to the president released last month, the Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO), a branch of the National Archives, provides a quantitative overview of hundreds of thousands of pages of classified and declassified documents. But the vice president's input consists of a single footnote explaining that his office failed to meet its reporting requirements for the third year in a row.

Open-government advocates say Cheney's refusal to divulge even basic information about classification activities reflects an alarming pattern of broadening executive privilege while narrowing public accountability. ...

Then today, I stumbled across THIS astonishing tidbit. It seems "Il Duce" has been covertly strong-arming the Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to do his bidding regarding investigation of the illegal NSA spying program, with one rather *significant* exception -- the GOP Committee member (who just happens to be its CHAIRMAN!) who *doesn't* particularly "cotton" to the notion of just sucking up to this Administration's every whim:

Specter's Uneasy Relationship With White House Is Revealed in a Letter to Cheney

A senior Republican lawmaker went public on Wednesday about his often tense and complicated relationship with the Bush White House in a remarkable display of the strains within the party.

The lawmaker, Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, the chairman of the Judiciary Committee, accused Vice President Dick Cheney of meddling behind his back in the committee's business, bringing into the open a conflict that has simmered for months.

In a letter to Mr. Cheney that the senator released to the news media, Mr. Specter said the vice president had cut him out of discussions with all the other Republicans on his own committee about oversight of the administration's eavesdropping programs, a subject on which Mr. Specter has often been at odds with the White House.

The trigger for Mr. Specter's anger was a deal made by Mr. Cheney with the other Republicans on the committee to block testimony from phone companies that reportedly cooperated in providing call records to the National Security Agency. ...

So what exactly are we dealing with here? What we're witnessing is the undeniable exposure of a deliberate *conspiracy*, engineered by "President Dick" and freely engaged in by those *other*, QUISLING GOP members of the Judiciary Committee, whose sole intention was to completely circumvent the *legitimate* procedures of the Congress and -- once again -- subjugate the RIGHTS of the American people to the astoundingly unconstitutional whims and diktats of this utterly illegitimate "presidency".

What obligation should any American have to obey the law when our corrupt leaders ignore it at every turn?

I would put that to the test, really I would, because there are several laws I'm just dying to break these days, but I don't think that argument would carry much weight in court.

Too bad.

Exellent post Nemo.

It's actually kind of fun to watch the light slowly dawning in old Arlen's and other veteran Repubs' eyes that thes guys are actually pulling a coup and there's not much they can do about it.
