Don't forget about Pastor Ted

_________________________________________

The wonderfully righteous Mrs. Betty Bowers has a great wrap-up of the Ted Haggard hypocrisy-fest:

It is quite clear that Ted Haggard is a man with admirable devotion to the Christian/GOP cause. After all, it must take enormous willpower for a meth-crazed sodomite to remove a penis from his mouth long enough to denounce homosexuality.

Read it all....

Yet another NeoConNazi war criminal will now be slithering out the door in Rumsfeld's wake. And good riddance!: Senior Pentagon Official Stephen Cambone to Resign / The Secret World of Stephen Cambone: Rumsfeld's Enforcer [2 articles]. ==== Nevertheless, the Bush *Theocracy* putsch proceeds relatively unabated: Foe of Birth Control to Head Family Planning [Inter Press Service] ==== Women's groups, health advocacy organisations and 21 members of the U.S. Congress are strongly lobbying against the recent appointment of an anti-birth control activist as head of the nation's family planning programme. ==== Last week, the George W. Bush administration named Dr. Eric Keroack to oversee the country's family planning programmes at the Department of Health and Human Services, despite the fact that he was well known for his extremist views on abortion and birth control, including for married women. ==== The fact that Keroack was appointed soon after the Bush administration lost control of both houses of Congress to the opposition Democratic Party early this month has raised further suspicions that Bush wants to use his office to advance a far-right agenda. ... [Sidenote: I wouldn't have thought those suspicions *could* be further augmented, the multitude of like indications already being tantamount to established fact!]

Last but not least, a topically related story that illustrates how utterly contemptible such fanatical religious zealots can be in expressing their plainly delusional beliefs: North Dakota Tribe Barring Church Protesters [AP] ==== A church group that protests at military funerals around the country will be barred from services for an American Indian soldier on a reservation, tribal officials say. ==== Members of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., planned to demonstrate at National Guard Cpl. Nathan Goodiron's funeral on Saturday at the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation. ==== Church members say the deaths of soldiers are punishment from God for the country's tolerance of homosexuals. ... ==== [Funny, I'd have thought enemy fire, etc., incurred during the pursuit of an illegal war of aggression was the cause. But, no! The "God" of Westboro Baptist's peculiar version of "faith" purportedly believes in making utterly unrelated points about sexual "deviancy" by obliterating US soldiers. Uh-huh.]

OT:
Lately you all heard about the story of deaths by polonium in the UK with all the consequences it could imply in terms of diplomacy around the world. Today, the officials from the Russian government are doing a counter operation (www.gov.ru) and an investigation to find out what is going on. I happen to see them on my blog earlier this morning finding some information with the keyword “polonium USA”.

Yet another one "bit the dust" today. And again, good riddance to utterly foul rubbish!: Bush Accepts Bolton's UN Resignation [AP] ==== Unable to win Senate confirmation, UN Ambassador John Bolton will step down when his recess appointment expires soon, the White House said Monday. ...

Regarding "polonium USA", UT: I wonder if they're not trying to track down possible sources for that radioisotope, used for what may well have been a "false flag" operation. Like the Ames (Iowa) strain of anthrax identified in the US "terrorist" mailings of 2001, it's not as if polonium is a *simple* thing to acquire. And frankly, I have a very hard time believing that Russia would resort to such an astoundingly expensive method for assassinating a defector. That seems much more like the kind of insanely wasteful spending OUR Fascist government is notorious for! (Can you say "$25 Million Reward for a man [UBL] the FBI doesn't feel sufficiently justified to even list explicitly as a suspect in 9/11"?)

The fruits of this insanely wrong-headed "War on Drugs" are remarkably bitter, benefitting NO ONE!: The House of Death [The Observer / UK] ==== When 12 bodies were found buried in the garden of a Mexican house, it seemed like a case of drug-linked killings. But the trail led to Washington and a cover-up that went right to the top. ...

I don't know what to think about that at this time, but if the intentions of the officials from the russian governments are benign then the polonium trail does not come from Russia but someplace else.
Any nuclear power anyway is able to produce polonium. I'll write a post about that tonite.

Anyone heard about GRAY HAWK SYSTEMS?

Gray Hawk Systems engineers support key transformation activities in the counter terror and counterintelligence fields at the Department of Defense and the Department of Justice. The company's focus is on knowledge management to assure the right information gets to the right decision makers at the right time. Global Hawk delivers secure networks, secure facilities and analysts/engineers that know the mission and can parse intelligence segments. The company also provides risk and vulnerability assessments for force protection and critical infrastructure protection at all levels of government and the private sector.

PS: the FBI is also associated with them.

They are looking at some info on Kendall Myers

Robert: Remember the coverage of the Supreme Court's police "no-knock" okay a while ago? Here's one significant result of that utterly thoughtless ruling: 88-Year-Old Woman is Latest Collateral Damage in Senseless Drug War, by Cynthia Tucker ==== All wars have a way of creating collateral damage, as the desk-bound bureaucrats euphemistically call the dead innocents, destroyed buildings and decimated towns that just happen to be in the way of bombs and bullets. Kathryn Johnston was collateral damage in America's misguided "war on drugs." ==== On Nov. 21, the 88-year-old woman was shot dead by Atlanta undercover police officers who crashed through her door after dark to execute a "no-knock" search warrant for illegal drugs. Living in a high-crime neighborhood, apparently frightened out of her wits, she fired at the intruders with a rusty revolver, hitting all three. That's according to the police account, which says the officers then returned fire, striking Ms. Johnston in the chest and extremities. ...

I wrote a post in French about the polonium story. I will translate it tomorrow into English and other people from Russia may translate it into their language as well. In the meantime you can check the IP address on my blog (www.gov.ru) which is the technical office of the President Putin, they call it "Administration of the President of the Russian Federation" that coordinates the FSB as well.

Old Pasadena has at its center the postal zero/zero intersection of all Pasadena, Fair Oaks Avenue (N-S) and Colorado Boulevard (E-W). It was here that the first of the businesses of the original Indiana Colony were established. Barney Hollingsworth had opened his general store on the Northwest corner. It served as the main supplier for the town as well as the post office when mail came up from Los Angeles. Barney's Ltd. Restaurant on Colorado near De Lacey St. is named for this store

Jet Diverted Due To Passenger Flatulence

"NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- An American Airlines flight from Washington D.C. to Dallas made an an emergency landing in Nashville Monday after passengers reported smelling the odor of struck matches.

American Airlines Flight 1053 landed safely and 99 passengers on the plane were taken off the plane as an investigation was begun, according to The Tennessean.

Bomb-sniffing dogs found the burned matches in the cabin, the newspaper reported.

The FBI talked to a woman who admitted that she struck the matches in an effort to conceal flatulence.

The passengers and their luggage went through security again before the jet was allowed to continue the flight to Dallas. The woman was not allowed back on the plane."

The long-awaited Baker-Hamilton Study Group report assessing broader US policy options in Iraq is a lengthy compromise statement reflecting a typical, middle-of-the-road consensus among an elite Washington "focus group", composed of esteemed individuals not handicapped by much historical or geopolitical familiarity with the region's problems.

Arguing for conditional military redeployment from Iraq, it offers sound advice on the desirability of wider diplomatic initiatives to engage Iraq's neighbours in a collective search for regional stability, including the belated need to tackle seriously the lingering Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The real importance of both documents is in what they do not say explicitly but implicitly convey: that the war has been a disaster; that the US must find a way to disengage by handing over the mess it created to the Iraqi leaders that the US itself had elevated to power; and that eventually the US may have to leave while blaming those same leaders for the US failure to cope. That notion is implicit even in some of Mr Rumsfeld's options and it is inherent in the 16-months deadline set by the Baker-Hamilton group for eventual US military disengagement.

Neither document faces squarely two basic and troubling realities: that since in Iraq (except for Kurdistan) real power is not in the hands of the Iraqi politicians resident in the US-protected Green Zone in Baghdad, any political solution must engage the Shia theocracy, with its militias; and that the longer the American occupation continues, the already declining US influence in the Middle East will give way to regional extremism and instability, especially if continuing indecision over the basic strategic choices in Iraq continue to be matched by US unwillingness to address the negative regional consequences of Israel's prolonged and increasingly repressive occupation of the Palestinians.

The combination of the two has already elevated Iran's geopolitical power in the region. Hence the need of the moment is not for tactical tinkering or long consensus reports. Can one imagine Charles de Gaulle in the late 1950s waiting weeks for a long study by French public figures on how to end the Algerian war that was damaging France's national unity and international reputation? Leadership derived from a sense of history requires sometimes the cutting of Gordian knots, not tying oneself up in knots.

The president, and America's political leadership, must recognise that the US role in the world is being gravely undermined by the policies launched more than three years ago. The destructive war in Iraq, the hypocritical indifference to the human dimensions of the stalemate in Israeli-Palestinian relations, the lack of diplomatic initiative in dealing with Iran and the frequent use of Islamophobic rhetoric are setting in motion forces that threaten to push America out of the Middle East, with dire consequences for itself and its friends in Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

America needs a strategic change of course, and it has to be undertaken on a broad front. It must accept the fact that real leadership in Iraq should be based on a coalition of the Shia clergy commanding the loyalty of Shia militias and of the autonomous Kurds and that the sooner a date is set for US departure, the sooner the authentic Iraqi leaders will be able to enlist Iraq's neighbours in a wider regional effort to promote a more stable Iraq. It must also engage its allies in a joint definition of the basic parameters of an Israeli-Palestinian settlement, for the two parties to the conflict will never do so on their own. Last but not least, the US must be ready to pursue multilateral and bilateral talks with Iran, including regional security issues.

In brief, the immediate dilemma is Iraq but the larger stake is the future of the Middle East.

There is much more at stake for America than Iraq (By Zbigniew Brzezinski)

It looks very much like the installed Felons of the Bush Reich are now striving vigorously to destroy the evidence of their crimes, *despite* Congressional demands. And though the EPA's politically appointed honchos are themselves carrying out the destruction, it seems entirely reasonable to assume that their *orders*, as usual, came straight from the anti-environmental, "crony capitalism" TOP! Let's call this what it plainly is -- TREASON against the American people, in abject servitude to an utterly corrupt dictatorship: EPA Scrubbing Library Web Site to Make Reports Unavailable [Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER)] ==== Agency sells $40,000 worth of furniture and equipment for $350. ==== In defiance of Congressional requests to immediately halt closures of library collections, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is purging records from its library websites, making them unavailable to both agency scientists and outside researchers, according to documents released today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER). At the same time, EPA is taking steps to prevent the re-opening of its shuttered libraries, including the hurried auctioning off of expensive bookcases, cabinets, microfiche readers and other equipment for less than a penny on the dollar. ==== In a letter dated November 30, 2006, four incoming House Democratic committee chairs demanded that EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson assure them "that the destruction or disposition of all library holdings immediately ceased upon the Agency's receipt of this letter and that all records of library holdings and dispersed materials are being maintained." On the very next day, December 1st, EPA de-linked thousands of documents from the website for the Office of Prevention, Pollution and Toxic Substances (OPPTS) Library, in EPA's Washington D.C. Headquarters. ==== Last month without notice to its scientists or the public, EPA abruptly closed the OPPTS Library, the agency's only specialized research repository on health effects and properties of toxic chemicals and pesticides. The web purge follows reports that library staffers were ordered to destroy its holdings by throwing collections into recycling bins. ...
